Through this blog I am trying to journal our families events so our loved ones can keep up with us from afar.

Die Maus
This week has been pretty boring for the most part which would explain the fewer blogs. So I will post something we did Monday which was fantastic. Steve decided he needed a break from work, and since he's got the time I say go for it. So, I wanted to take him up to see the castles on the Rhine river since he has never seen them, it is only 45 minutes away, and it is about the most beautiful drive you could ever go on in your life (May through Oct.) So we drove for a while, and then we wanted to get out and go explore a castle. We chose "die maus" and it was about 1/2 kilometer walk up a hill with switchbacks. When we got to the top the doors where closed, and we found out that they only open at 11 and 2:30 for you to see the castle, the view, and a falcon/hawk show. When we got to the top it was 3:00! So I was quite frustrated, and vow to go back and see the birds someday. Well, Steve wanted to see if he could get a look at the birds without coming back....so he walked a little more up the hill, and sure enough there was a place where you could look through the trees and see the birds, and a beautiful view of the river. The boys had a great time, and we will go back and see more castles before it gets too cold.

Oh man. I remember Kamber and I sitting and watching the sunset on the Rhine river. How romantic huh? It was one of the most beautiful spots we saw in Europe. Your family outing sounds wonderful, even though those huge castle doors were closed for you. You must go back!
How cool to get to go and see castles. Hopefully it will be open for your family next time. I love seeing all the beautiful pictures of Germany- keep posting them!
